JJ Redick: A Look Back at His Career

Early Life and Career

JJ Redick was born on June 24, 1984, in Cookeville, Tennessee. He began his basketball career at Duke University, where he became one of the most prolific scorers in college basketball history. Redick was a four-year starter for the Blue Devils and helped lead the team to the NCAA Tournament each year. He was named the ACC Player of the Year in 2006 and was a consensus All-American.

NBA Career

Redick was selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA Draft. He quickly became a reliable scorer for the Magic, averaging over 10 points per game in each of his first three seasons. In 2010, Redick was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he became a starter and averaged 15.1 points per game. He spent two seasons with the Bucks before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2013.

Redick spent the next six seasons with the Clippers, becoming one of the best shooters in the NBA. He was a three-time All-Star and helped the Clippers reach the playoffs each year. Redick left the Clippers in 2019 and signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. He spent two seasons with the Pelicans before retiring in 2021.

Career Accomplishments

Redick finished his NBA career with averages of 12.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 43.7% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range. Redick was a three-time All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2007. He also won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
